The challenge
The firm's L&D org was running an expensive, slow production pipeline: SME interviews → script → storyboard → agency animation → legal review → re-render. A typical compliance module cost $30–45K and took 14–18 weeks. Because each update was so costly, content aged poorly, and learners complained that screenshots, product names, and regulatory references were visibly out of date. Annual compliance completion rates were strong (the course is mandatory), but post-training assessment scores had been flat for three years.
What they did with Knowlify
The L&D team piloted Knowlify on a single compliance refresh, then rolled it out across the leadership curriculum. SMEs now hand in structured source documents; the L&D team produces, reviews, and publishes without an external agency. Brand kit, voice, and legal disclaimers are templated so every module is consistent by default. Updates that previously triggered a full agency engagement are now handled inline.
“What changed for us isn't really the cost — it's that I can sit down with an SME in the morning and have a reviewable draft in front of legal the same day. That wasn't possible with the old workflow, no matter how much we spent.”
What happened next
With production no longer the bottleneck, the team shifted focus from "can we afford to ship this" to "what does the business actually need." They now run quarterly content-freshness audits, retiring or updating modules in days instead of budgeting for them a year ahead. SME satisfaction scores on the L&D partnership rose from 3.1 to 4.6 out of 5.
